Gilroy Garlic Festival 2017: Bigger, Better, Bolder! This year’s Gilroy Garlic Festival (July 28-30) is bigger, better, and bolder than ever before…with lots of great garlicky fun going on all three days.
Friday is Locals Day, with discounted admission for local residents and popular local acts performing. Teams of first responders will compete in the Champions for Charity competition, hosted by Master Chef Season 7 winner Shaun O’Neale.
On Saturday, eight amateur chefs from across the country will battle in the Great Garlic Cook-Off, one of the country’s most prestigious cooking contests. Bring your dancing shoes and groove to “Spicy Soul Saturday” on the Amphitheater Stage.
On Sunday, Food Network superstar Giada De Laurentiis will host the Garlic Showdown at noon on the Cook-Off Stage, while 95.3 KRTY welcomes up-and-coming country music artists Jacob Davis, Chris Ferrara and Aubrey Road at “Hot Country Sunday” on the Amphitheater Stage.
With all this, plus the new deep-fried Gilroy Garlic Shrimp in Gourmet Alley and a relocated open-air Wine Garden, this is one event you won’t want to miss.
Friday Nights are All Right in Downtown Gilroy
TGIF! On July 7, 14, and 21, we’ve got your Friday fun covered. In the afternoon, head downtown to Fifth Street for farm-fresh produce and other gourmet goodies at the Gilroy Spice of Life Certified Farmers Market. Grab some dinner from the Moveable Feast food trucks or any of downtown’s great restaurants. As the sun goes down, enjoy a free concert at Fifth Street Live. Or head over to the Gilroy Center for the Arts to enjoy Outdoor Family Movie Night, starting at dusk, they’ll be showing “Kubo and the Two Strings” (7/7), “Queen of Katwe” (7/14), and “The Jungle Book” (7/21).
