The Pacific Brass Band will perform at Guglielmo Winery on June 3.

Music lovers will enjoy picnic lunches and great vino as Guglielmo Winery hosts the annual “Strike Up the Band” brass band concert 4 p.m., June 3.

Sponsored by the South Valley Symphony, the Pacific Brass Band will perform light-hearted music played under the large canopy at Guglielmo which looks much like a circus tent, or what the British call a “marquee,” said Jim O’Briant, the band master.

People are encouraged to bring picnics to enjoy while listening to the music. No outside alcohol is permitted, but Guglielmo wine will be for sale. Audience members can also purchase food from Ricky’s BBQ Grill.

Pacific Brass Band was founded in 1990. At that time, it was one of only two brass bands in California. American bands traditionally have three types of instruments — brass, woodwinds and percussion — but a British-style brass band has brass and percussion, no woodwinds.

Tickets are $20 for adults and kids get in free. Tables for eight cost $160 and include a free bottle of wine. Details: Visit www.southvalleysymphony.org.
