Child care for K-5th graders
• At this new summer program at Gilroy Presbyterian church for K-5th graders, children get to learn through music, engaging lessons, fun games and activities. Classes run from 9 a.m. to noon. Fifth Street Live

‘Lend Me A Tenor’ at Limelight Actors Theater
• Don’t miss “Lend Me A Tenor,” Limelight Actors Theater’s Summer Comedy & Fundraiser for Parkinson’s Research. This madcap comedy is guaranteed to leave audiences teary-eyed with laughter. July 21
Preschool story time
• Join a 30-minute preschool story time for ages 3 to 5 at 10:30 a.m. at the Gilroy Library, 350 W. Sixth St. Story time includes books, rhymes, songs, flannel boards and fun. The program continues year round.

July 23
Rhythm, rattle and rock
• A lively and noisy half hour of songs, dance, instruments and fun at 11 a.m. at the Gilroy Library, 350 W. Sixth St. Come rattle a shaker, clap your hands, wave a scarf and have a ball. Families and children of all ages welcome.

July 28
Patriots meet monthly
• Citizens are invited to attend the conservative group’s monthly meeting at 7 p.m. at the San Martin Lions Club, 12415 Murphy Ave. The objective of the group is to raise political sophistication, and keep up to date on politics in our state and country.

Gilroy Garlic Festival
• Follow your nose to the 2016 Gilroy Garlic Festival taking place from July 29 to 31. At summer’s ultimate food festival, visitors enjoy three days of incredible food, fine wines, arts and crafts and live entertainment while consuming lots and lots of garlic. The heart of the festival is Gourmet Alley where the famous “Pyro Chefs” cook up sizzling scampi and calamari while other behind-the-scenes volunteers prepare longtime favorites such as pepper steak sandwiches, pasta con pesto, stuffed mushrooms and garlic bread.
Festival visitors enjoy live entertainment on three stages, plus celebrity chef demonstrations and cooking competitions like the Great Garlic Cook-Off. There is also a wide range of other food booths, beer and wine tasting, arts and crafts and a fun children’s area. Locals day is Friday and you must present a valid photo ID with a local address in Gilroy, Morgan Hill, San Martin, Hollister, San Juan Bautista or Aromas. Maximum of two tickets per ID. Aug. 12
Mike Osborn to perform
• Recording artist Mike Osborn will appear at 8 p.m. at The District Theater, 7430 Monterey St. Tickets are $15 at the door, $10 in advance and available at www.mikeosborn.bpt.me. Osborn’s music is a unique blend of classic rock, blues and country. He has played an array of fairs, festivals and concerts across the United States.
