Pumpkin People Contest prize money worth a total of $1,000

The Gilroy Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring its 3rd Annual Pumpkin People Contest which will officially run from Saturday, Oct. 15 through Monday, Oct. 31.

Registration for the Pumpkin People contest is only $25. Participants can register online at www.gilroy.org or at the Chamber office, 7471 Monterey St. Participants will enter one of two categories; 1) Business Community, which includes wineries, restaurants, lodging properties, small, medium or large business of any kind or 2) Residential Community, which includes individuals or families living in a residential property. Each category will be eligible for a 1st prize worth $250, 2nd place prize worth $150 and a 3rd place prize worth $100 equaling $1,000 in prize money.

Participants must pay and register with the Gilroy Chamber of Commerce on or before Sept. 28, 2016 to be eligible to win.

Participants must have all Pumpkin People displays ready for viewing no later than 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 15 and must be maintained throughout the event schedule of Oct. 15 to Oct. 31.

A panel of five judges will review all the Pumpkin People displays and rate each display in four categories, Difficulty, Originality, Creativity and Entertaining. The combined score of the five judges will determine the cash prize winners.

There will also be a “People’s Choice Award,” determined by the general public. Votes will be cast for people’s favorite display.

Pumpkin People Restaurant Passport Contest runs from Oct. 1 to 31

How would you like to win a trip to South Lake Tahoe for three days and two nights? Purchase a pumpkin dish, item or drink from 12 or more of the participating restaurants listed below (menu items subject to change) and you will qualify to be entered into a drawing for a two-night stay in South Lake Tahoe.

The Passport Contest runs the entire month of October. Passports listing all participating restaurants and their dishes are available at the Chamber of Commerce office as well as the participating restaurants. After purchasing a pumpkin item from a participating restaurant, ask to have your passport stamped indicating your purchase from that restaurant. Once you have 12 or more restaurant stamps in your passport, return the passport to the Gilroy Chamber of Commerce office no later than Friday, Nov. 4, 2016.

Purchasing more than one pumpkin dish from the same participating restaurant will only count as one visit to that participating restaurant.

To qualify for the drawing, patrons must frequent at least 12 of the participating restaurants and purchase one of the pumpkin dishes, items, or drinks being offered.
