Women’s Support Group

AARP Safe Driving Course

  • A refresher course for motorists 50 and older is currently taking place. You must call and register to get the dates and location. Participants will familiarize themselves with driver safety and new laws. No tests. Course, materials and instructor provided. There is a minimal DMV certificate fee. Tour Palassou Ridge

  • The Palassou Ridge preserve north of Gilroy will open to the public for walking and mountain biking from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Registration is required. Parking is free for this special-access event. Details and to register: www.openspaceauthority.org.

 

Starry Nights

  • Join the Open Space Authority in partnership with the San Jose Astronomical Association for an evening under the stars from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m., at 4289 Casa Loma Road. No need to bring a telescope, the SJAA will provide them along with astronomy docents. Registration is required. Grammy-winning Singer Performs

  • Acts Revival Center — Southgate Church presents Grammy Award-winning singer Deniece Williams at 10 a.m. at Acts Revival Center — Southgate Church in Morgan Hill. Exploring the Azores

Dawn Bird Walk

  • Join the Open Space Authority for a chance to witness the landscape come alive with birdsong as the sun rises from 6:15 to 8 a.m. at the Coyote Valle Open Space Preserve, 550 Palm Ave. There are many species to discover and one can meander a short way to get a view. Gates will be open at 6 a.m. Please bring binoculars, a flashlight or headlamp, layers for warmth, and water. Register at www.openspaceauthority.org.

‘Here Comes the Judge’

  • Oakwood School drama presents “Here Comes the Judge,” at 7 p.m. Friday and at 1 and 7 p.m. Saturday at the school, 105 John Wilson Way.

Clean up a Pajaro River

  • Join the Open Space Authority staff and volunteers and clean the Pajaro River Agricultural Preserve by removing garbage, clearing out weeds, and putting down weed cloth and mulch from 9:30 a.m to 3 p.m. Bring long sleeves, sun protection, close-toed shoes, and a two-liter water bottle or container. They will provide gloves, lunch, and water. Driving directions will be sent after registration. Register at www.openspaceauthority.org.
