The South Valley Symphony will be warming up the season with their “Spirit Of Music 2: Holidays” concert Dec. 14
By Mark Fenichel
It’s hard to believe that the holidays are almost here and soon we will be making our New Year’s resolutions. Besides everyone’s usual resolutions like losing weight, getting healthy, quitting smoking, and being kind to everyone, what are some of the other things that are important?
For me it’s basic, keep playing the music I know and love, and stop buying more musical equipment, including guitars. The other thing is to let go of some of the guitars in my collection. They are all great and have become like family, but it is time for a number of them to go.
Some of the wineries that have summer music events are continuing with live music indoors and in their tasting rooms. Clos La Chance has a series called Tunes on the Terrace on various Sunday afternoons through the end of the year. (Check their website for details and dates at www.clos.com.)
Bubbles Wine and Brew has a winter music series lined up inside their facility from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturdays. Satori Cellars will resume their outdoor music after winter.
The South Valley Symphony will be warming up the season with their “Spirit Of Music 2: Holidays” concert Dec. 14 that features seasonal favorites and classical sounds highlighting local vocalists Sandra Marlowe and Ted Sanchez.
Ticket sales are brisk so get yours while they are still available . Get them in Gilroy at Porcella’s Music or First Street Coffee, or in Morgan Hill at the Chamber of Commerce or at BookSmart.
On another note, Yes Yogurt will be donating 25 percent of every purchase in December to your school of choice. Just mention this program at the cash register and tell them what school should receive your money. Yes Yogurt is located in Morgan Hill next door to Five Guys, 775 Cochrane Road, Suite 120.
Class Act Music Academy is a new music school in Gilroy founded by Danielle Wells, MFA, whose focus is teaching kids to love music, and have fun while doing it.
CAMA offers private and group lessons for vocals, ukulele, and piano. CAMA had its first fall recital Dec. 1 where students showed off what they learned during the past six months of practice and rehearsals.
CAMA’s next recital will come in the spring of 2020 featuring voice and piano students, the winter voice and ukulele classes, and CAMA’s executive director, Soprano Danielle Marie. Details: call (669) 500-8375 www.camusicacademy.com.
