Estate Planning and Medi-Cal Planning Seminars
• Join attorney Jim Ward for a 90-minute educational workshop, breaking down inheritance tax myths, inaccurate information regarding qualifying for Medi-Cal and the legal steps needed to protect assets with a sound living trust. The seminars are free to the public and are held from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Aug. 23, 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 24, and 1 to 2:30 p.m. Aug. 25. Planning fall and winter vegetable garden
• There are many types of vegetables that can grow in fall and winter. Leafy greens, root vegetables, broccoli and other seasonal crops will be covered at the class. Learn how to grow them successfully and enjoy fresh salads all years. The class takes place from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Gilroy Library, 350 W. Sixth St.

Auditions for The 1940s Radio Hour
• Adults of all ages are invited to upcoming auditions for South Valley Civic Theatre’s production of The 1940s Radio Hour. Auditions are open to all and no experience is necessary. Be a part of a live broadcast of The Mutual Manhattan Variety Cavalcade from the Hotel Astor’s Algonquin Room on Dec. 21, 1942. Immerse yourself in the spirit of that bygone era when the world was at war and pop music meant “Strike Up the Band” and “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy.” Performances will be at the Morgan Hill Community Playhouse, Nov. 18 to Dec. 10. People with mental health conditions share their powerful personal stories in a free 90-minute presentation from 10:30 a.m. to noon at 1235 First St., Gilroy. The event is hosted by Santa Clara County Behavioral Health Services Department, Esperanza Self-Help Center, and presented by the Santa Clara County National Alliance on Mental Illness. Local author to speak
• Local author and past life therapist, Ann Barham, will speak at 12:30 p.m. at the Gilroy Rotary Club luncheon meeting at the Elks Lodge, 2765 Hecker Pass Highway. Her talk will be about the process of becoming a published author with a major publishing house. Her most recent book, “The Past Life Perspective: Discovering Your True Nature Across Multiple Lifetimes,” was released in June.

Audition for ‘Elf Jr.’
• Theater Fun presents “Elf Jr.” and director Carol Romo is looking for South Valley dancers, actors and singers ages 6 and older for the 14-week class that takes place from 9:45 to 11:45 a.m. every Tuesday through Dec. 13, with a show for parents and friends Dec. 13 at the Morgan Hill Community Playhouse, 17090 Monterey Road. Sept. 10
Learn to build a raised-bed garden
• See a hands-on demonstration on how to construct a raised-bed garden and learn what to plant in it at a Master Gardner class from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Saint Louise Hospital Teaching and Demo Garden, 9400 No Name Uno, Gilroy. This will be hands-on with seed planting that attendees can take home and will be lead by UCCE Master Gardner Glenn Lattig.

Play golf and raise funds
• Interested in playing golf and helping a local nonprofit? The Continuing Advancement for Special Adults Center, an adult day program for those 18 and older with developmental challenges, is holding their 8th Annual Golf Tournament fundraiser at Eagle Ridge Saturday, Sept. 24 and they’re looking for participants.
