Fred Tovar

Thank you for taking the time to learn more about me and my candidacy for Gilroy City Council.

As a longtime resident, I am running for city council to improve the quality of life for everyone in our community. As I’ve put down roots and raised my family here, I’ve taken an active role in making our city a great place to live and work. Since 2001, I’ve served as Director of Student Affairs/Assistant Director of Admissions at the Stanford University School of Medicine, P.A.

Over the past eight years, I’ve devoted my time to serving as a board member for the Gilroy Unified School District, and currently as Board President.

During my time on the board, GUSD has provided students with rigorous, high-quality educational programs, been a good steward of public funds, updated facilities and built new schools to accommodate growth.

My experience as a trustee gives me a strong knowledge base and track record of building consensus that will help me achieve results on the city council.

I believe in fiscal responsibility, maintaining a balanced budget and championing local business owners so that they choose to invest in Gilroy.

As your city councilmember, I will work hard to make Gilroy an even better place to live by:

• Maintaining the high quality of life Gilroy residents deserve
• Growing Gilroy’s economy, business, and downtown community
• Ensuring the quality of Gilroy schools
• Improving our road and city infrastructure
• Keeping our environment clean and sustainable

My commitment to honesty, integrity, and independent leadership has earned me the endorsement of The Santa Clara County Democratic Party, The League of Conservation Voters of Santa Clara County, several current councilmembers, community leaders, local business owners and every member of the Gilroy school board.

I would be honored to serve Gilroy and work hard to maintain the vibrant, family-friendly community that we know and love. Visit www.VoteFredTovar.com.
