Paul Kloecker

I am a 35-year resident of Gilroy and have served three prior terms as Gilroy City Council. My education and qualifications are bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Masters in financial management at Naval Postgraduate School, retired officer, U. S. Navy Civil Engineer for 22 years, Vietnam Veteran with Bronze Star award, Parks Recreation Commissioner for four years, Vice Chair Planning Commission for two years, member of Senior Council at Gilroy Senior Center and professional engineer.

My education and many years of experience in facility planning, construction, housing and transportation management continue to present as a Facilities Planning Construction Project Consultant. This includes leadership and administration of small and large organizations.

In my previous three term on council, I participated in planning and financial issues, I advocated teamwork and a sound decision-making process. With appreciation for city issues, concern for residential, commercial development, city services, planning and transportation, I have represented the city in regional organizations such as the Transportation Commission, Association of Bay Area Governments, South County Plan Committee, Caltrain Committee, Santa Clara County Cities Association and others.

My positions on some Gilroy issues are planning for a quality future, transparency in city government, downtown re-vitalization, improve public safety staffing, maintain financial integrity of city government and promote a close relationship with the Gilroy Unified School District.

I also participate actively in Sunrise Rotary, Gilroy Exchange Club, Elks Lodge, VFW Post 6309, American Legion Post 217, Gilroy Gardens and I’m a Garlic Festival volunteer. I am also an active member of St. Mary Parish.
The residents, businesses and community groups have a right to expect trust, confidence, integrity and leadership from their elected representatives. As councilman, my service to all segments of the community will be characterized by these traits.

On the personal side, my wife Patricia, a native Gilroyan, is a retired teacher from Solorzano Middle School after 32 years with GUSD. Our two children are graduates of Gilroy High School and have earned college degrees.
In summary, I have the necessary ability, experience and dedicated attitude to promote teamwork and meet the challenges facing city of Gilroy. I earnestly seek support of Gilroy voters for election to City Council. I may be contacted at [email protected].
