Like many cities, Gilroy is facing one of the most challenging economic times in our history, exacerbated by the impacts of COVID-19. The costs of our needs continue to exceed our income, whether the subject is essential city services or community-based services. Our next mayor will need to navigate the city council through some very difficult and emotional decisions to preserve services while protecting Gilroy from bankruptcy. As your current city councilwoman and former vice mayor, a certified public accountant of more than 30 years and local small business owner, a lifelong resident and mother of two grown children, I am deeply rooted and invested — both personally and professionally — in Gilroy. I am committed to keeping our city safe, vibrant and economically healthy. As mayor, I’ll return financial stability to Gilroy, ensure we have the city services we count on and deserve, and promote an aggressive plan to retain and attract businesses and jobs.
