It’s time for Gilroy to receive a new voice. For too long Gilroy unified has brushed our parents, students, and teachers to the wayside. If elected I will join the board as a student voice and represent everyone in the district. I will listen to your voice and your concerns. The board is here to be elected officials of the community and the community will be my voice. I have been involved in the community for years and together have endured the same struggles. I have first-hand experience of a Gilroy unified education and have even experienced online learning. No one is better suited for tackling our Coronavirus response than I.

I also want to give back to the district who made me who I am and create a positive learning environment for all students to come. An environment that is accepting of all students and an environment that nurtures learning. I want to ensure that my friends and little sister get the best education possible. I believe this can all be accomplished through obtaining expert staff, training our staff, and revising our current policies.

We need to stop rolling out new programs without preparing our schools for these programs and providing the proper staff and materials for the programs to succeed.

We also need to stop looking at our students as test scores and as actual possibilities. How funding is being allocated right now is not working and only the community can bring change. So that is why I ask Area 3 to vote for Jonathan Hurtado and together we will bring on change.
