Gabriel Gutiérrez

My name is Dr. Gabriel Gutiérrez and I am a candidate for Gavilan College Trustee Area 3. My family and I are proud residents of Gilroy. My wife and I are public school educators, and our children attend public schools.

I am a product of hardworking parents who guided me to make a difference in our community. With their support, I obtained a BS and MA degree in Psychology and a Ph.D. in Education/School Psychology.

I have improved conditions for students as an academic advisor, social worker, school psychologist, and community college instructor.

I have devoted my life to supporting all students to achieve their dreams. I believe deeply in the value of community colleges and am committed to championing our Gavilan community so we may reach the highest levels of excellence.

My commitment to Gavilan is personal, as my family and I have benefited from access to community colleges. They made it possible for my father to learn a trade to support our family, my brother to transfer to a four-year university and become an educator, and my sister to become a nurse.

The transformational impact of Gavilan college and my desire to ensure that our community has enhanced opportunities to make their dreams a reality have led me to ask for your support to serve you on the Gavilan College Board of Trustees.

As your trustee, I will actively listen to our community to make student-centered decisions, strengthen fiscal stability, and ensure accountability. I will advance policy that increases student enrollment and brings innovative programs and opportunities to Gavilan College.

I look forward to being part of a strong governance team that uses data to inform decisions that will affect our school community.
