As South Valley’s population grows, it needs better public rail transportation heading toward the cities to the north. That’s why we encourage you to participate in an online survey.

Exciting developments are underway for Caltrain, and your voice is needed to help shape the future of rail service in our community. The agency has recently launched a customer and community survey to gather valuable input on additional rail service to south San Jose, Morgan Hill, and Gilroy. This is a fantastic opportunity for South Valley residents to make our voices heard and contribute to the improvement of our transportation system.

Caltrain is evaluating service changes between Gilroy and Tamien stations. They seek your help to find out how residents might like to see better service for their transportation needs. Caltrain’s current schedule includes three daily roundtrips that depart Gilroy on weekdays at 5:54 a.m., 6:31 a.m., and 6:52 a.m. and arrive back at Gilroy at 5:21 p.m., 6:42 p.m., and 7:19 p.m. Caltrain staff are considering adjusting the departure and arrival times and adding a fourth daily round trip.

Caltrain values the input of its riders and the communities it serves. By taking a few minutes to complete this survey, you have the chance to influence the decisions that will directly impact our daily commutes, accessibility, and overall quality of life. Whether you are a frequent Caltrain rider or someone who believes in the importance of efficient and sustainable public transportation, your opinion matters.

The survey is open until Sunday, June 25, allowing you a few days to provide thoughtful and constructive feedback. Remember, every opinion matters. Your input will contribute to a more comprehensive understanding of the needs and aspirations of our community.

The survey can be accessed at www.caltrain.com/southcountysurvey. It should take about five minutes to complete. It covers various aspects of trip quality, such as proposed service adjustments, train schedules, and infrastructure improvements. Your feedback will play a pivotal role in shaping the fourth train schedule for the September Caltrain service adjustment.

Not only does this survey allow you to express your preferences and concerns, but it also provides an opportunity for us to advocate for increased rail service to our community.

Gilroy has been growing steadily, and improved transportation options are crucial for our future. By participating in the survey, you contribute to the case for additional rail service, attracting attention to the needs and potential of our city.

It’s not often that we are given the chance to directly influence the decisions made by transportation authorities. Let’s seize this opportunity to share our opinions and ensure our community’s voice is heard loud and clear. Encourage your friends, family, and neighbors to participate as well. Together, we can make a difference and shape a future where transportation in Gilroy is efficient, reliable, and accessible to all.

Let’s pave the way for an improved Caltrain service that benefits us all. Let’s make our voices count and work towards a better future for transportation in Gilroy.
