Mayor Marie Blankley appears headed for re-election

While the nation’s eyes are still fixed on the 2024 presidential election, results for several key local elections and ballot measures are in as of 11:30 p.m.

Incumbent mayor Marie Blankley holds a narrow 295-vote lead over challenger Greg Bozzo, landscaper, with 6492 (51.16 percent) against Bozzo’s 6197 (48.84 percent).

The city’s three available city council seats are decided by a top-three vote between six candidates. The race is currently led by firefighter and incumbent councilmember Zach Hilton with 6,152 votes (20.42 percent), followed by small business owner Terence Fugazzi with 5,879 votes (19.51 percent), and planning commissioner Kelly Ramirez in third with 5,486 votes (18.21 percent).

They are followed by incumbent Fred Tovar, 4,979 votes (16.53 percent), planning commissioner Stefanie Elle, 4,502 votes (14.94 percent), and incumbent Rebeca Armendariz, 3,132 votes (10.39 percent), in fourth, fifth, and sixth place respectively.

The public safety tax increase Measure C is currently favored to pass, garnering 7,677 “Yes” votes, a share of 60.96 percent, versus 4,917 “No” votes, 39.04 percent.

Results for the Gilroy Unified School District Board of Trustees elections for Areas 2, 5 and 6 were not yet available.
