Curtains Up Review by Camille Bounds: TheatreWorks’ “Mrs. Christie” is a clever show looking at mystery novelist.

TheatreWorks has chosen “Mrs. Christie,”  a complicated, interesting production for its 53rd season opener. Artistic director Giovanna Sardelli carries this cleverly plotted  show with detailed direction.

A solid, strong cast of eight talented, seasoned adults and a dog bring playwright’s Heidi Armbruster’s little known story of Agatha Christe’s, 1926 11-day disappearance.   Using the moment of time and geography, Sardelli balances  characters with delicate staging and movement. The meticulous adaptation and direction draws the best from the actors and produces a captivating experience.

Jennifer La Blanc,Elissa Beth Stebbins, Aido Billingstea, Kina Kantor, Nicole Javier, Max Tachis, Lucinds Hitchcock Cone, and William Thomas Hodgson bring believable characters to the production.

As usual TheatreWorks’ creative team brings in a show that is easy to hear, see, and look at with Christopher Fitzer’s creative scenic designs, James Ard’s sound design,   Cathleen Edwards costumes and Wen-Ling Liao’s  lighting.

The play moves from 1926 to almost a hundred years later when Christie fans decide to solve the mystery of her disappearance. It gets complicated and you must go and see for yourself how they work it out,
